Market This!

I see the Times got around to editing the Mayor’s Tuesday announcement of his new “Committee” charged with developing a sustainable marketing strategy for the City of Trenton, whatever that means. The headline in the online edition of the story calls the Committee a “Commission,” showing the same type of confusion that Mayor Tony F. MackĀ® typically displays about these things. Oh, no, it’s contagious!

Anyway, this “Committee” is likely to have an uphill road to travel in order to improve the City’s marketability. I base that statement on the fact that today’s story by Erin Duffy also appears along with these stories:

“Trenton man suffers groin wound in alley shooting attack”

“Trenton woman cut by another woman during argument”

“Trenton man is charged with sexually assaulting 6-year-old girl”

“Witness identified Trenton man as shooter in apartment hallway killing, prosecutors say”

May I make a modest suggestion, Mister Mayor?

You may want to formally amend the mission of your Committee so that you charge it with “developing a sustainable POSITIVE marketing strategy for the City of Trenton.”

Because the only thing sustainable about Trenton’s image right now is its ability to create consistently and reliably negative news. And, Mister Mayor, I include you and your Administration and your Administration’s hangers-on as contributing to the sustainably horrible conditions in this City.

This is definitely not “greener, cleaner, more vibrant.”

you forgot the FOUR houses of prostitution, what a missed marketing opportunity.

I wonder if any of these committees will be tasked with rehabilitating the Mayor’s eyesore abandoned home that sits ever vacant and effects the appearance of the city.
