Any Questions?

OK, let’s quickly review some of what we have learned this week.

First, Democracy is too expensive. A special election for the purposes of a recall, at $100,000 (never mind that the City Clerk quoted $90,000 to Jim Carlucci when we were researching our Recall Workshop – what’s a measly $10,000 to this Administration) is just TOO expensive. Undeserved Overtime, payments to favored friends, vendors, law firms, a padded payroll of miscellaneous Mayoral Aides, Park Rangers  and unproductive grantwriters, as well as money allegedly skimmed under the table by indicted half-brothers are, however, perfectly acceptable.

Next, providing information to the Public is just too inconvenient and troublesome. Fulfilling OPRA requirements all the time is nothing that Doug Palmer had to deal with; why should Tony F. Mack? If your Law Director is too diligent about, you know, Following the Law, pick a Fight with him and try to force him out.

Third, Tony F. Mack is just TOO, TOO obsessed by the ghost (figuratively speaking of course! The genuine article is alive and well and living in Hunterdon County, as he long has) of Doug Palmer. Doug Palmer was never criticized, Doug Palmer was never threatened with Recall. Doug Palmer was never under investigation, Doug Palmer shot a man once, just to watch him die, and no one cared about that (OK, that was Johnny Cash).

Finally, the parallels – Small Northeastern City Edition of course – between Tony F. Mack and Richard M. Nixon are becoming more pronounced.
